The idea

Somewhere in an open-plan office, five colleagues have decided the fastest way between two desks is a racing line. Chair Chase is that argument settled over five laps, across five workplaces, on a chair that was never designed for this.

On a phone, steer with the stick and use the buttons on the right. Turn the handset sideways to race.

Drifting is worth learning

Hold V through a corner and the chair steps out sideways. The longer you hold a clean slide, the bigger the payout when you let go: a burst of speed, and a large chunk of your boost bar refilled. Boost otherwise takes eight seconds to recharge on its own, so drifting well is the difference between three boosts a lap and five.

Every chair slides differently. The Gaming Chair swings out furthest and is hardest to hold; the Folding Chair barely steps out at all but costs almost nothing to slide.

The leaderboard

Finish a race and your best lap, the ground you covered and the number of HR complaints you generated all go to a shared board. Whoever runs the most races in a day takes Employee of the Month, and their face goes on the monitor in the chair select screen until somebody beats them.
